Understanding Your Energy Needs
Proper solar system sizing is crucial for maximizing your investment and ensuring adequate power generation. Here's how to calculate the right size for your home.
Step 1: Analyze Your Electricity Bills
Collect your last 12 months of electricity bills to understand your consumption pattern:
- Calculate average monthly units (kWh)
- Identify peak consumption months
- Note seasonal variations
Step 2: Calculate Daily Energy Requirement
Formula: Daily kWh = Monthly kWh ÷ 30
Example: If you consume 300 units per month, daily requirement = 300 ÷ 30 = 10 kWh
Step 3: Determine System Capacity
In Uttar Pradesh, average sun hours = 4.5-5 hours
System capacity (kW) = Daily kWh ÷ Sun hours
Example: 10 kWh ÷ 5 hours = 2 kW system
Additional Considerations
- Future energy needs growth
- Available roof space
- Budget constraints
- Net metering policies
